There is a news circulating in the media regarding resignation by Dr Shaleen prasad from Rajeev gandhi super speciality hospital because of misbehaviour by SDM. Here reference is with me with whom the incident happened . I am Dr Nitin Shakya attached with Rajeev gandhi super speciality hospital for COVID 19 management . I myself is a doctor with post graduate in anesthesia and critical care medicine from Maulana azad medical college . When i joined the hospital there were a lot of grievances of patients relative that they are not getting patients status at Rajeev gandhi superspeciality hospital covid care help desk and some grievances with patients managment.
Thus for providing timely information to patients relatives about patients status and well being we have started vital monitoring, statistics reporting and video calling services with the help of BDS residents besides their clinical assistance. With this effort we were able to reduce the grievances to a significant level . Besides being a civil servant , i am a medical professional also and going beyond my duty I regularly take covid ward rounds and try to assist in improving patients’ outcomes . And on daily basis i am interacting with covid patients and their relatives to smoothen the whole process.
Yesterday i found some patients’ negligence on 6th floor and asked Dr Shallen prasad but he was not ready to listen and started shouting at me . He himself was not wearing mask or PPE kit .I also requested him that at least one medical professional must be present inside patient care area so that if there is any medical emergency it can be managed timely and also our BDS residents besides clinical assistance should timely communicate vitals of patients to Covid help desk , so that we timely inform the status of patient to there relatives and reduce their grievances . But Dr Shallen was not ready to listen and started thrashing me.
In this covid pandemic i am only concerned with better patient outcome, resolving there grievances and believe that patient attendants must be given patients status timely.
This is crisis time and we all have to work as a team rather than blaming anyone .All the allegations by Dr Shallen prasad are negated and baseless . And infact he was neglecting his duties so i had to respond in patients care.
